The Northside Activities Association (NAA) is a nonprofit organization founded in 2002 to benefit the youth of Sioux City’s Northside community. The goal of the NAA, as shown in our motto, is “Building better students and citizens for the future”. We work hard to accomplish this goal by supporting extracurricular activities for all students of North Middle and North High School. Why? Because it’s been repeatedly proven that students who are involved in fine arts and athletic programs do better than those students who are not involved. The NAA exists to get more students involved in extracurricular activities and to support their activities so they ALL have a better chance to succeed in school - and in life. After all, these students are the future leaders of our community and they need our support.
The NAA reaches out to our students in a variety of ways. For instance, several years ago, the NAA was instrumental in developing the athletic programs now in place at North Middle School. These programs were established to get students involved at an early age so they have enough time to develop the skills necessary to be successful at the high school level. The success of numerous North High School athletic programs in recent years can be attributed, in part, to the efforts of the NAA. In 2007, the NAA directed substantial improvements to the North High School Activities Complex. More recently, we have provided financial support for the wrestling team, baseball team, tennis team, and music department. Currently, we are leading an effort to completely renovate the North High School Auditorium.
In order to help the students of our Northside community, the NAA relies solely on the generous donations of concerned citizens and businesses. Through the efforts of a dedicated, all-voluntary Board of Directors and other concerned citizens of our community, the NAA actively seeks charitable donations to support our mission and help our students succeed.
